Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball sweeps MSJC, 5-0; Defeats Hope International, 3-2

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball team won its fourth of five matches with a 5-0 sweep of Mt. San Jacinto College and a 3-2 win over Hope International University on Wednesday (February 15) at Mt. SAC Beach in non-conference action.

"We took care of business with MSJC and played a huge game up against Hope University," Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball coach Danielle Diaz said. "I am so proud of the girls for playing with so much confidence and trusting in their partner and each other's skills. They were extremely coachable all day and followed the game plan and it resulted in two big wins."

The Mt. SAC pairs of Allison Whiteman/Bristol Christelman (1's), Paige Gutowski/Riley DeGroot (2's), JJ Quarrels/Riannel Arevalo (3's) and Savanna Corrales/Angelina Burton (5's) all swept their matches, two sets to none in the morning match against MSJC.

The 4's team of Elizabeth Ortiz/Kylie Rhodes dropped the first set, 18-21, but won the next two in exciting fashion, 26-24 and 15-9 over the Eagles to complete the sweep.

In the match against Hope University, the 2's (Gutowski/DeGroot) and 4's (Ortiz/Capri Salmon) won in straight sets, while the 5's (Corrales/Burton) went the distance for the three-set win.

The 1's (Whiteman/Christelman) and 3's (Quarrels/Arevalo) lost in straight sets.
