(Long Beach, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball suffered two losses in a South Coast Conference double dual match against El Camino (5-0) and host Long Beach City College (5-0), Friday (March 18).
The Mounties are now 5-7 overall and 0-3 in conference.
In the match against El Camino, four of the five matches were 2-set losses, but both the Mt. SAC 1's (Riley DeGroot/Allison Whiteman) and 4's (Alicia Patterson/Savanna Corrales) lost one of the two sets by a 21-19 score.
The only pair to take the match to three sets was the 5's (Victoria Arnold/Kylie Rhodes). They lost the opening set, 21-16, but came back to tie the set at 1-1 with a 21-15 win. The pair fell in a close third set, 16-14.
In the loss to LBCC, three of the five-set losses by the Mounties went the distance in three sets.
The 3's (JJ Quarrels/Diana Pelcastre) and 4's (Patterson/Corrales) both lost their opening sets but came back to tie it at 1-1 with second set wins but lost in the third set.
The 5's (Arnold/Rhodes), however, won their opening set, 21-15, but lost in a close second set in the win-by-two-point rule, 22-20. The pair also fell in extra points again, 16-14, for a close overall match loss.
The Mounties will host College of the Desert (6-5, 1-0) Friday (March 25) at "Mountie Beach." Action gets underway at 10:00.
