Chris Oliver joined the Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball Program in 2019.  The former basketball professional previously coached at Redondo Union High School where he served as the head boys freshman (‘06-‘07) and assistant boys varsity basketball coach (‘04-‘06).

Oliver is originally from Rohnert Park (CA) and prepped at St. Vincent De Paul High School in Petaluma (CA) where he was a star center for the basketball program.  He continued his education and career first at Hope International University (’98-’99) and later at Sonoma State University (’99-’03).

At Sonoma State, Oliver earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) first team all-conference honors in 2003.  During his senior season, he led the CCAA in field goal percentage, averaging 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.  He was named CCAA Player of the Week in February of 2003 and led the conference in double-doubles during the ‘00-‘01 season.  During his 3 year career with the Seawolves, he led his team to a NCAA Tournament birth and set the team career shot block record of 72.

After college, Oliver continued his career professionally in Europe, playing for Gala (’03-’04) in Baku, Azerbaijan and becoming the first American to play professionally in that country.  He averaged 38.9 points and 15 rebounds per game for Gala.  From 2003-2004, he played for TI Sparkasse (Innstruck, Austria) where he averaged 20.0 points and 15 rebounds per game. 

Oliver received his Bachelor’s Degree in American Multicultural Studies from Sonoma State University. 

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball.  He is also a salt and freshwater aquarium enthusiast who can type an amazing 80 words per minute. 

He and his wife Allison (Mt. SAC’s Head Women’s Volleyball (indoor and beach) Coach are proud parents of Samantha and Alexandra and reside in Glendora.
