Mt. SAC Baseball loses SCC series opener to PCC, 9-4

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC opened the 3-game Series South Coast Conference opener against Pasadena City College with a 9-4 loss on Tuesday, March 19.  

Mt. SAC slipped to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

The Mounties opened the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning but managed just one run the rest of the way, as the Lancers highlighted the game with two three-run innings to take the lead.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, PCC tied the game, 1-1, and scored three runs in the next two innings for a 7-3 lead.  PCC added two more runs in the eighth for the 9-3 lead and Mt. SAC came back with one in the bottom half of the inning.

Andrew Walters (3-5, R, RBI, Tpl.) and Blake Hagerty (3-3, R, Dbl.) each had three hits in the game, while center fielder Joey Rossetti (2-5, R) added two hits.

In the Mounties first, first baseman Ty Thomas highlighted the three-run first with a two-run triple, scoring Walters and second baseman Joel Gutierrez.

Sophomore starter Matthew Lorenzano (4-2) suffered the loss.

Mt. SAC continues the three-game series on Thursday, March 21 at PCC.
