Baseball completes three-game sweep of Cerritos in SCC series

(Norwalk, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (19-6, 9-3) concluded a three-game South Coast Conference sweep of host Cerritos College (8-17-1, 4-11) on Saturday, March 26, with the score of 8-5. The win puts the Mounties atop the SCC standings, just percentage points ahead of East Los Angeles College (15-11, 11-4).

With two outs in the top of the fifth, Mt. SAC's Nin Burns II (2-3, R, RBI, 2B) scored from third on a wild pitch to break a 4-4 tie. The Falcons knotted the score at 5 in the bottom of the seventh, only to see Mt. SAC respond with three in the top of the eighth to take the lead for good.

Will Bermudez (2-3, 2R), Cristian Enriquez (2-4, 2 R, RBI), and CJ Ontiveros (1-3, R, RBI) helped lead the Mounties' offense. In addition, Enriquez, Burns II, and Jacob Moreno each stole a base.

Damian Torres (2-1) picked up the win for Mt. SAC, throwing 1.2 innings in relief of starter Alec Beck. Enriquez earned his first save of the season, pitching one inning of relief.

The Mounties will open a three-game SCC series with Los Angeles Harbor College (7-19, 4-11) in Wilmington on Tuesday, March 29, at 2:30 p.m. Game 2 will be at Walnut on Thursday, March 31, at 2:30 p.m., and Game 3 in Wilmington on Saturday, April 2, at 12 p.m.
