Mounties Open Season with 9-2 Win Over Glendale College

Mt. SAC (1-0) opened the season with a convincing nonconference 9-2 victory over Glendale College (0-2) Thursday afternoon at Mazmanian Field.

Sophomore lefthander Ethan Etchebarren (La Puente HS) got the win. Etchebarren (1-0) went six innings and allowed only two hits and no runs.

Freshman righthander Paul Barraza (La Serna HS) pitched the final three innings for the Mounties

Leading the way for the Mounties was sophomore centerfielder Dustin Frailey (Alta Loma HS) going 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Sophomore second baseman D.J. Larios (West Covina HS), who was 2 for 3, scoring two runs, sophomore first baseman Dylan Lowenstein (Chino Hills HS) and sophomore Kevin Romo (St. Paul HS) all collected two hits apiece for the Mounties.

After leading 1-0 in the first inning, Romo led off a three-run second inning with a double to centerfield, followed by three consecutive hits.

Larios singled in Romo (2 for 4, dbl, sac), followed by a double from freshman right fielder Nate Alam (El Dorado HS). Frailey followed with a run-scoring single to right for the 4-0 lead.

Mt SAC added solo runs in the fourth and sixth innings with Frailey scoring both runs.

Frailey then singled in two more runs in the three-run seventh scoring Lowenstein (2 for 5, run) and Larios.
