The Mt. SAC Baseball Team battled back from an early deficit to beat Cypress College 4-3 in a 10 inning thriller at the Baseball Super Regionals hosted by Saddleback College. The Mounties were down 3-0 in the third, but got on the board in the 5th with a sacrifice fly by Derek Goodwin, scoring Caesar Murillo.

More fireworks came later when sophomore Cameron Pongs park a home run into right field in the 6th inning, tying the game at 3. The Mounties had there chances but failed to score in regulation, forcing extra innings. Pongs again came up big, with a single in the bottom of the 10th. He then advanced to 2nd base on a hit by Caleb Romo. Murillo then singled to left center which allowed Pongs to beat the throw at the plate to win.

The Mounties also received strong pitching from Derrick Penilla, who went 7 innings and Luis Martinez who pitched the final 3.

Mt. SAC will face host Saddleback, who defeated College of the Canyons 7-0 in other action.
