Mountie Women's Cross Country pulls off 3-peat as State Champs

(Fresno, CA) With a team score of 86 points, Mt. San Antonio College claimed its third consecutive 3C2A State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Woodward Park in Fresno. This is the Mounties' fourth state title in the past six years. San Diego Mesa College tallied 119 points to take second and Clovis Community College came in third with 150.

Individual placings for Mt. SAC included Aariana Amezcua (10th place, 18:45.19), Shandy Moore (17th, 19:02.28), Natalyn Membreno (18th, 19:06.98), Ingrid Tamayo (20th, 19:12.16), Ava Cornell (32nd, 19:37.96), Tigist Bergman (37th, 19:45.26) and Maya Garcia (58th, 20:19.61). There were 167 runners in the field.

Not only did the Mounties threepeat as state champs in 2023, they also claimed their third South Coast Conference title in a row and placed second at the 3C2A SoCal Championships.

A state title is a fitting end to an exciting 2023 season for Mt. SAC. Check back here in the fall of 2024 to see if the Mounties can make it four state titles in a row.
