Mt. SAC Women’s Cross Country Team Wins Third Consecutive SCC Title; Aariana Amezcua Takes First

(Harbor City, CA) With two invitational first-place finishes this season, the Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country team added another title with a convincing South Coast Conference Championship at Ken Malloy Regional Park in Harbor City on Friday, October 27.

The conference's top spot was the third in a row and the seventh in the last 11 years for the Mountie runners. Mt. SAC finished with 29 points, followed by second-place Cerritos (59) and third-place El Camino (80).

The Mounties had seven of the top 11 runners out of the 57 competitors, and five runners finished with scoring points. Finishing first overall in the 5K race was freshman Aariana Amezcua with a time of 18:14.5, followed by the remaining four runners earning points: Ingrid Tamayo, 4th (19:06.4); Shandy Moore, 7th (19:21.7); Tigist Bergman, 8th (19:43.6); and Ava Cornell, 9th (19:53.8).

The Mounties will aim to capture their third consecutive 3C2A Southern California Championship on Friday, November 3, at El Dorado East Regional Park in Long Beach.
