(Salem, OR) The Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Women's Cross Country team returned to Oregon for the first time since the 2017 season, participating in the 48th Annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. They achieved an eighth-place overall finish, with a noteworthy second-place standing among community colleges.
The College of Idaho, with 62 points, emerged as the champion in the event. Remarkably, they were the only community college to outshine the Mounties, with three of their runners taking top-four positions.
Mt. SAC's top placer in the field of 222 runners was freshman Aarianna Amezcua (18:26.6) with a 27th overall finish and sixth among community colleges.
Amezcua was followed by: Shandy Moore, 57th (19:20), Natalyn Membreno, 58th (19.20.9), Ingrid Tamayo, 65th (19.33.4), Maya Garcia, 73rd (19.40.1), Tigist Bergman, 101st (20:00.3) and Brenna Butler, 115th (20.24.6).
The Mounties will next compete at the Manny Bautista Invite at NTC Park, hosted by San Diego Mesa College at Liberty Station in San Diego on Friday, October 6.
