(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team got back on the winning track in a South Coast Conference match with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Los Angeles City College on Friday, September 29.

With their third win in the last four matches, the Mounties improved to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in the SCC.

The Mounties, which won by scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-16, had a balanced attack, as the entire roster got in on the action against the Cubs.

"Our starters took care of business in the first set, which gave our bench the opportunity to step up in sets two and three to finish the match," Mt. SAC Volleyball coach Samantha Neely said. "The whole roster got to contribute to this win, and it was fun to see everyone find success on the court.

"Ultimately, our focus is to play well every game regardless of the opponent and play a consistent mental game. We as a team have experienced growth this week at practice and in our match in those things, so I'm happy with the direction we are headed."

Leading the way for the Mounties was sophomore middle blocker Kyra Miller (.462 K%) with eight kills, while freshman opposite Sam Parks (.294 K%, 5 Digs) and sophomore middle Zyra Green (2 Digs) had seven kills each.

Sophomore outside hitter Melissa Polich (.357 K%, 1 SA, 5 Digs) and freshman OH Laylah Okoye (.417 K%) added six kills each.

Sophomore setter Capri Salmon (1 SA, 3 Digs) led with 25 assists and freshmen liberoes Freda Lei (1 SA) and Brooke Olivas (1 SA) added seven digs for the Mounties.

Mt. SAC will host Pasadena City College next Wednesday (Sept. 4) for an SCC match.
