Mountie Women's Volleyball splits at Bakersfield Quad

(Bakersfield, CA) Following a season-opening win at home over Citrus College on August 25, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Volleyball team hit the road to participate in the Bakersfield College Quad Meet on Saturday, August 26. The host Renegades (2-0) defeated the Mounties 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-22) in the opening match, then Mt. SAC bounced back with a 3-1 (28-30, 25-22, 29-27, 25-16) victory over Santa Barbara City College (2-2).

Top players for the Mounties against Bakersfield included Candace Ceballos (seven digs, four kills), Andrea Brewer (seven kills, four digs), Leia Campbell (six kills), Eva Becerra (four digs), and Zyra Green (six kills).

Mt. SAC 3 Santa Barbara 1

After dropping the first game, Mt. SAC swept the next three to claim the victory. Brewer racked up 21 kills and 20 digs, while teammate Ceballos tallied 12 kills, 16 digs, and three service aces. Naara Ortega (14 digs), Capri Salmon (35 assists,10 digs), Melissa Polich (seven digs), and Green (five kills) also performed well for the Mounties in the winning effort.

Mt. SAC (2-1) returns to action at home on Wednesday, August 30, in a non-conference match against Irvine Valley College (1-0) at 6 p.m.
