Women's Volleyball on a Roll!

(Riverside, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Program is off to a great start under the direction of first year Head Coach, Ali Carey-Oliver. The Mounties finished off competition in the Riverside City Tournament, defeating Citrus College in 3 sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) and later that night beating Mt. San Jacinto in 4 sets (25-17, 25-10, 22-25, 25-20), starting the season at 3-0.

Against the Owls of Citrus, Mt. SAC was led in hitting by Kaitlyn Partridge with 14 kills on 28 attempts (.500) with only two errors, followed by Erica Gumz 10 kills, Makenzie Thieme with 8 and Haley English with 7. It was also supported by strong setting from 3 Mounties, Carolina Urquieta 15 assists, Merosa Uiagalelei tallying 14 and English having 12. Alexandria Peterson, at Libero, finished with 13 digs while Gumz and Thieme had 7 and 6, respectively.

Later in the day the Ladies faced Mt. San Jacinto, taking the Eagles down in 4 sets with strong play coming from English with 11 kills, 12 assists and 3 aces. Gumz racked up 10 kills and 10 digs while teammate Jordan Wilson added 10 kills, 6 solo blocks and 3 block assists. Defense was once again strong with Peterson collecting 8 digs, Julia Colin with 6 while Urquieta and Uiagalelei assisting the Mountie attack with 16 and 11, respectively. 

Mt. SAC will host a double header on September 9th, against College of the Desert at 3 pm, followed by a 7 pm matchup against Riverside City College.
