Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field represents well at Kamaka Open

(Walnut, CA) In a field of 13 teams across 18 events. Mt. San Antonio College athletes turned in one first-place, four second-place, and four third-place finishes at the 2024 Ron Kamaka Open at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Saturday, Feb.24.

The lone first-place finish came from Sophia Perez in the pole vault.

Astrid Teran (pole vault), Amaliyah Smith (100 hurdles), Natalyn Membreno (1500 meters), and the 4x400 relay team (Elyssa Gonzales, Alyssah Johnson, Leilani Centeno, Smith) took second in their events.

Third-place finishes came from Leila Caluya (javelin), Exacte Kamba (triple jump), Johnson (400 hurdles), and Shandy Moore (1500 meters).

Next up for the Mounties is a day at the beach! The 2024 Beach Opener will take place at California State University Long Beach on Friday, March 1.
