(Modesto, CA) In 2022, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Track and Field team captured the state 3C2A title. As a follow-up, the Mounties did it again in 2023 by tallying 151.5 team points on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, at the 3C2A State Championships at Modesto Junior College. South Coast Conference champion Cerritos College came in second with 84 points and San Diego Mesa finished third with 54. In total, Mt. SAC turned in four first-place, seven second-place, and three third-place performances.

"The women's and men's teams really showed heart this year.," said Women's Head Coach Jenna Bird. "We started off the season with lots of rainy weather and windy meets, and every time the student-athletes showed up undaunted.  Staying undaunted going into the State Championships our team faced lots of ups and downs but continued to show up strong when it mattered. An extremely talented group of young women and men!"

"I couldn't be prouder and more humbled to work with such amazing athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, administration, and support staff."

Amari Weatherford (100 meters, 200 meters), Jaiden Hill (400 meters), and Ahnyx Bush (triple jump) accounted for the Mounties' first-place finishes.

Second-place finishes from Mt. SAC included Hill (200 meters), Trista Michael (800 meters), Cyvanna Bowen (100 hurdles), Bailie Horton (pole vault), Bush (long jump), Summer Stevenson (triple jump), and the 4x100 relay team (Tatiana Sprock, Hill, Weatherford, and Charisma Collins).

Natalyn Membreno (800 meters), Karla Galvan (3000 steeplechase), and the 4x400 relay team ( Sprock, Weatherford, Micheal, Hill) came in third for the Mounties in their events.

In addition to her first- and second-place finishes in the triple jump and long jump, respectively, Bush was also named the field MVP of the meet.

This concludes the 2023 season for Mt. SAC. Can the team make it three in a row? Tune in in 2024 to find out.
