(Pasadena, CA) In the opening South Coast Conference double-dual meet of the season, the Mt. SAC Women's Swimming and Diving team came away with a pair of wins Friday afternoon at Pasadena City College.

They bested the Pasadena, 166-107 and L.A. Trade Tech, 227-51 to start the season at 2-0 in conference.

The Mountie women came away with four individual winners and easily won the 200 yard Medley Relay.

Mt. SAC sophomore Hannah Schmidt easily won the 1,000 yard Freestyle (12:25.81) and finished second in the 500 Free to teammate Angelica Quesada.

Quesada also finished second in the 100 yard Free and swam on the 400 Free Relay team, which placed second.

"I'm really excited for the season," said Schmidt recently.

"Our team has a lot of depth to it like last year."

In her victory in the 1,000 yard Free her nearest competitor was over 12 seconds behind her.

Sophomore Jazzie Hernandez won her favorite race, the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:07.32. She finished third in the 200 yard Butterfly and swam in both relays (200 yard MR and 400 Freestyle).

"This year I'm doing really, really well," said Hernandez. "I'm excited. I'm on all of my best times from last year.

"My specialty is the butterfly."

Freshman Jerica Djapri won the 100 yard Backstroke in a time of 1:05.57 and finished second in the 200 yard Back. She also swam the backstroke leg of the first-place 200 Medley Relay.

"Our sophomores are kind of hitting close for the most part of where they finished last year," said Mt. SAC Women's coach Chris Jackson, after the conclusion of the Mt. SAC Invite which the Mounties finished in fourth.

"Some of our freshmen swam their best times, so that's good too."

The next meet for the women is the Chaffey College Invite this Friday and Saturday.
