Mt. SAC Women’s Golf wins North/South Invitational at Morro Bay

(Morro Bay, CA) One of the biggest wins in years for the Mt. SAC Women's Golf team, finishing with first place in the North/South Invitational in Morro Bay on Sunday and Monday (Oct. 8, 9).

The Mounties, who won their first invitational in 10 years, finished with two-day nearly equal rounds of 324-328 (652), a whopping 38 strokes better than Modesto, 690 (351-339).

Reedley, 691 (347-344) and College of Canyons, 697 (353-344) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Fourteen colleges (9 South, 5, North) took place in the invitational, which took place at the Hunter Ranch Golf Course.

Leading the Mounties was their season-long four-member team of golfers, who have won four of five Orange Empire Conference matches and a second-place finish in the early-season Desert Invitational. 

Leading the charge for the Mounties was Natalie Neal, 153 (75-78), followed by Kylie Lau, 161 (80-81), Alana Lo, 164 (83-82), and Kayla Loera, 174 (86-88).

Remaining team scores: Moorpark, 5th (704); Desert, 6th (709); Bakersfield, 7th (717); Napa, 8th (719); Santa Barbara CC, 9th (741); Sierra, 10th (742); Delta, 11th (776); Hancock, 12th (857); Mt. San Jacinto (No score); Fullerton (No score).

The Mounties continue OEC action Wednesday (Oct. 11) at Cottonwood Golf Course in El Cajon.
