(Victorville, CA) Mt. SAC freshman forward Daisia Mitchell drained a long-range 3-pointer with no time left on the clock to complete a late fourth-quarter eight-point deficit to defeat host Victor Valley, 69-67, Friday (December 29) in a nonconference women's basketball game.

Mitchell (1-2 FGM-A, 8 RB, 3 Stls., 2 Assts.), who scored seven points in the game, grabbed the rebound after the second missed free throw by Victor Valley, dribbled down the court and hit nothing but net for the clincher as time expired, setting off a wild celebration by the Mounties.

The win was the ninth in a row and 10th out of the last 11 games for the Mounties who improved to 13-2.

Mt. SAC finished with an 11-1 run in the game, which was highlighted by a trio of 3-pointers. Trailing 66-58 with just 57 seconds remaining, the final minute belonged to the Mounties.

Mt. SAC sophomore Dailani Richardson (4-9 FGM-A, 3-7 3 PM-A, 3-3 FTM-A, 4 RB, 4 Stls., 1 A) drained two free throws to trail, 66-60. After a turnover by Victor Valley, Richardson followed that with a 3-pointer from the side to put Mt. SAC within three, 66-63 with 29 seconds left.

With the time winding down and eight seconds to play, the Rams made one of two free throws to lead by a couple of baskets, 67-63.

After a timeout, Richardson drained another 3-pointer, which was followed by two misses at the free throw line by the Rams.

That set up the final heroics by Mitchell.

Also scoring in double figures for the Mounties was freshman forward Aanisah Moncrief (3-5 FGM-A, 5-9 FTM-A, 9 RB, 3 A) and sophomore guard Carley Bolden (4-6 FGM-A, 1-1 3 PM-A, 1 A, 1 Stl.) with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Before the last frantic seconds in the game, the Mounties last led, 46-45 at the 8:30 mark of the fourth quarter.

Later in the fourth, the Rams went on an 8-3 run to hold a 67-58 lead.

Mt. SAC built up a 34-26 lead by halftime, but Victor Valley outscored the Mounties, 19-10, in the third to take a one-point, 45-44, lead to start the final quarter.

Both teams combined for 47 points in the fourth quarter.

Mt. SAC begins the New Year with a non-conference game at Palomar on Friday (Jan. 5).
