Mountie Women's Basketball downs San Joaquin Delta in Moorpark Tourney title game

(Moorpark, CA) Back on Dec. 1, San Joaquin Delta College defeated Mt. San Antonio College, 67-59, in the opening round of the College of the Sequoias Tournament. On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Mounties (11-2) returned the favor with a 64-48 victory over the Mustangs (10-2) in the Tommy Arellano North-South Challenge championship game at Moorpark College. Both teams were ranked in the most recent California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association state poll—Mt. SAC at No. 5 and SJDC at No. 3.

Mt. SAC defeated No. 7-ranked Fresno City College (10-4) by the score of 86-77 in the semifinal round on Friday, Dec. 15, to earn a spot in the title game against SJDC.

Against the Mustangs, Daisia Mitchell led the Mounties with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, all game highs. Carley Bolden and Aanisah Moncrief added 16 and 12 points, respectively, for Mt. SAC.

Winners of seven straight, the Mounties will host San Diego Mesa College (8-5) in a non-conference game on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m.
