Mt. SAC Women's Basketball dominates Irvine Valley in opening round of Moorpark Tourney

(Moorpark, CA) In convincing fashion, Mt. San Antonio College defeated Irvine Valley College (6-3) by the score of 73-32 in the opening round of the Tommy Arellano North-South Challenge at Moorpark College on Thursday, Dec. 14. The win is the fifth straight for the Mounties (9-2) who are ranked No. 5 in the state in the current California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll.

Mt. SAC's Daisia Mitchell led all players with 19 points as teammates Dailani Richardson (17 points), Frances Potts (14) and Alana Diaz (11) accounted for the team's double-digit scorers.

Mitchell and Aanisah Moncrief grabbed game-highs in rebounding with 10 each as the Mounties outrebounded the Lasers, 46-28. Mt. SAC led by as many as 42 points and outplayed IVC in points off turnovers (29-11) and points in the paint (42-14).

Mt. SAC will face Fresno City College (9-3) in the second round on Friday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. The Rams are coming off a 77-73 loss to host Moorpark College (8-3) and are ranked No. 7 in the state.
