Mountie Women's Basketball secured the L.A. Valley Tournament title with a win over L.A. Valley.

(Valley Glen, CA) Behind a balanced offensive attack, Mt. San Antonio College captured the Los Angeles Valley College Tournament championship with a 78-50 victory over host L.A. Valley College (5-5) on Saturday, Dec. 9. The Mounties (8-2) advanced to the title game with a 60-59 win against South Coast Conference rival Long Beach City College (6-6) on Friday.

In Saturday's contest, Frances Potts led Mt. SAC with 20 points as teammates Dailani Richardson (19 points), Daisia Mitchell (16) and Aanisah Moncrief (13) rounded out the team's double-digit scorers. Mitchell also grabbed a game-high 13 boards while Moncrief and Richardson tallied seven each.

The Mounties led by as many as 33 points and dominated the Monarchs in rebounding (52-28) and points in the paint (44-28).

Ranked No. 5 in the current California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association state poll, Mt. SAC will next compete in the Moorpark College Tournament and will face Irvine Valley College (6-2) in the opening round on Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m.
