Mt. SAC Softball upends 3C2A State No 2 Palomar, 6-4; Kneubuhler connects with two home runs and five RBIs

(San Marcos, CA) Mt. SAC freshman catcher Morgan Kneubuhler hit two home runs and knocked in five runs to lead the Mounties to a 6-4 win over 3C2A No. 2 State-ranked Palomar Comets in a non-conference game on Saturday, April 13.

The No. 7 Mounties improved to 28-7 overall with the win.

Mt. SAC took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run blast by Kneubuhler (2-3, 2 HRs, 2 Rs, 5 RBIs), and she followed with a two-run home run in the third to increase the lead to 5-1.

The Comets rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth to trail, 5-3, and each team scored a run in the seventh.

Freshman center fielder Rianna De La Barcena (2-3, Dbl.) also had two hits for the Mounties and shortstop Katie Griego added a triple.

In the circle, Mt. SAC sophomore pitcher Aleyna Urbina (10-5) picked up her second win in relief in the last two games.
