Mountie Softball dominates El Camino in SCC game, extends win streak to 11

(Torrance, CA) In a South Coast Conference matchup, Mt. San Antonio College (19-6, 9-1) won its 11th straight game with a 16-0 win over host El Camino College (15-9, 7-4) on Friday, March 22.

The Mounties broke a scoreless tie with 11 runs on nine hits in the top of the third, then added five more runs down the stretch.

Several hitters helped spark Mt. SAC's offense, including Janis Espinoza (2-2, RBI), Alyssa Rubalcava (2-3, R, 2 RBI), Katie Griego (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI), Amanda Esquivel (1-3, R, 2 RBI), Gabrielle Flores (1-3, R, RBI), Audrey White (1-3, 2 R), and Rianna De La Barcena (1-2, 2 R).

On the basepaths, Griego and Mia Martin stole bases in the winning effort.

Aleyna Urbina (8-5) picked up the win for the Mounties, pitching five innings, allowing three hits and no runs, while striking out three.

Mt. SAC will look to extend its winning streak on Tuesday, March 26, at East Los Angeles College (7-15, 2-8) in an SCC game that starts at 3 p.m.
