Mt. SAC Softball Handles Pasadena City College, 13-1

(Walnut, CA) After a tough stretch in February, the Mt. SAC Softball team is on a roll, securing its fifth consecutive South Coast Conference win on Friday, March 8, against visiting Pasadena City College with a score of 13-1 in five innings. With this victory, the Mounties improved to 13-6 overall and 5-1 in conference standings. The Mounties wasted little time in putting runs on the board, scoring five in the first inning and adding six more in the second for an 11-0 lead.

Sophomore pitcher Dallas Garcia (4-0) scattered six hits over five innings and struck out a season-high nine batters. Freshman catcher Allie Kirkpatrick had a breakout game, contributing five RBIs, three hits, a run scored, and her first home run of the season. Additionally, three other players – Amanda Esquivel (2-4, 3 Rs, RBI, Dbl.), Morgan Knubuhler (2-2, 2 Rs, RBI), and Gabrielle Flores (2-3, 3 RBIs, 2 Rs) – each recorded two hits.

Highlighting the five-run first inning were two, two-run RBIs by Flores and Kirkpatrick. For the second inning in a row, the Mounties batted around, with six consecutive batters reaching base and five players scoring. Kirkpatrick's two-run home run further solidified the Mounties' lead to 11-0.

Mt. SAC continues SCC action with a home game on Thursday, March 14, against Compton.
