(Walnut, CA) Although they defeated Santa Ana College in the first game of the season (15-14) and led the state in total number of hits, the Mountie Softball Team could not stop one of the state's top pitching teams, who outscored the Mounties, 18-7, in two games, to advance to the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Softball Playoffs.

In the first game, the Mounties led the visiting Dons, 4-3, until the top of the seventh inning, when the Don's added one more run to tie the game and send it into extra innings.  In the top of the 8th the Dons added another run, however the home team Mounties could not match that run in the bottom of the eighth, losing the contest 5-4.

In game two on Sunday, it was all Santa Ana.  The Dons scored 4 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.  Santa Ana defeated the Mounties 13-3, on 16 hits to move on.

Center Fielder Alyssa James was the most outstanding Mountie during the playoffs, going 5 for 6 at the plate with 1 RBI and scoring 1 run.

The Mounties finish the 2015 season with a 29-14 record on the year and a second place finish in the South Coast Conference.  Congratulations to Coach Ruby Rojas, her staff and players on another successful softball season.
