(San Diego, CA) In a field of 179 runners, the Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country team had a strong showing with ten runners finishing in the top 21 positions, leading the Mounties to a first-place finish in the Annual Manny Bautista Invite on Friday, October 6.

Taking first place honors was Mt. SAC freshman Matthew Donis, with a time of 19:59.82 in the 4-mile run at NTC Liberty Station. Donis is off to a great start this season, having won his second race, and was narrowly beaten out by teammate Jonathon Zavala at the Oxnard Invite.

As a team, the Mounties (33 Pts.) bested host San Diego Mesa (33) by two points, with five runners in the top 11 positions and ten out of 18 positions associated with colleges. Sixteen schools participated in the event.

Zavala (20:23.45) finished fourth at the Bautista Invite, followed by Joel Fischer in 8th place (20:52.07), Noah Chairez in 9th place (20:52.82), and Christian De Loye in 11th place (21:00.73).

The Mountie runners will next compete in their 75th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday, October 13.
