Mounties turn in solid performances at season-opening CSUSF - Mark Covert Classic

Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country at the 2023 Mark Covert Classic

(Fullerton, CA) At the Mark Covert Classic at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Fullerton on Saturday, Mt. SAC opened its 2023 season by placing sixth as a team in the open competition with 156 points.

In the open 8K race, Johnathon Zavala placed ninth in a field of 137 with a time of 24:43.7 for the Mounties, as teammate Aidan Gomez came in 44th place at 25:46.6.

Landen Breckner (25:47.5), Noah Chairez (25:50.1), Joel Fischer (25:58.3), Nathan Tsai (26:00.6), and Louis Torres (26:03.1) rounded out the scoring members in the invite race for Mt. SAC.

The Mounties will compete in the Oxnard Invite at Oxnard College on Friday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m.
