Mounties Sweep Two Games at Southwestern College Tourney; Defeat Cypress 18-7, Palomar 17-5

(Chula Vista, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo team ended its regular season the way it started, with convincing non-conference wins. The Mounties improved to 20-7 overall, their best regular-season finish since 2019.

Mt. SAC defeated Cypress 18-7 and Palomar 17-5. Leading the way with 13 goals on the day was sophomore utility Brandon Fabrega. Freshman utility Alex Lopez scored nine goals. Both Fabrega and Lopez had eight-goal games against Cypress and Palomar, respectively.

In their first game of the day against Cypress, the Mounties took an 11-3 lead by halftime and cruised to a 10-point win. Fabrega scored five goals in the game.

In the afternoon game, Mt. SAC again took a big lead by halftime, 9-2. Scoring six goals in the third period, the Mounties put the game away for a 15-4 lead. Edward (EJ) Lynch scored three goals, along with Jude Solis and Aidan Gillooly, who scored two each.

The Mounties begin action in the South Coast Conference Championships on Thursday and Saturday, November 2 and 4, at Long Beach City College.
