(Torrance, CA) With a season-high seven goals, utility player Jarrett Barker led the Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team to a, 15-12, South Coast Conference win over host El Camino College.

The Mounties, who have won six consecutive games, improve to 8-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.  Barker is state goal leader with 42 in 10 games.

"The kids did a good job of adjusting to a small indoor pool, as we expected them to," Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Coach Marc Ruh said. "A road win is always a good win."

After a close first period with a 3-2 lead, the Mounties offense blossomed for six goals and a 9-4 halftime lead. Barker, who took 13 shots in the game, had three first-half goals for the Mounties.

Jonathan Heredia, who opened the scoring in the third period with a goal, had a game-high 10 steals to go along with two assists and a blocked shot. The Mounties held a one-goal (3-2) advantage in the period to double up on the Warriors, 12-6, heading into the final period.

Barker scored all three of the Mounties goals in the final period for the win.

Goalie Jake Simmons made 12 saves in the game for the Mounties.

Mt. SAC will travel to Pennsylvania to play six games in three days, beginning this Friday, September 21st. They will play Gannon University, McKendree University, Penn State University, Behrend, Washington and Jefferson University and Salem International University.
