(Pasadena, CA) With 201 swimmers from 17 community colleges throughout Southern California, the Mt. SAC Men's Swimming and Diving team placed second with 437 points among some very strong competition in the 17th Annual Pasadena Invitational Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Mounties was sophomore Kyle Chang, who competed in nine events,  with two individual fifth-place finishes in the 200 Individual Medley (2:01.01) and the 50 Freestyle (21.77) as well as a member of all five relays.

"The team swam as well as can be expected at this point in the season," Mt. SAC Swimming and Diving coach Marc Ruh said.

"It is great to finish so strongly as a team against that field of teams. We are very proud of the team. In most cases the kids each had 10 races over the two-day period and some long days and performed very, very well."

The second-season now awaits the Mountie swimming and diving team, with the SCC/Regional diving championships at El Camino College next weekend and the conference swimming championships at Mt. SAC April 20-22.

Freshman Spencer Chlebowski, swimming in seven events, was a 5th place finisher in the 200 Backstroke (2:05.40) and seventh and ninth in the distance swims, 500 and 1,650 Freestyle, respectively. He also swam in four relays.

Mt. SAC's best finish in the relays was a fifth-place in the 800 Free (7:28.78) with Chang, Chlebowski, Renen Devito (SO) and Alec Rivera (FR).\

Sophomore Bryan Calderon, competing in nine events, had a finish of 6th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:01.20) and swam in four relays.

In the 1-meter diving competition, freshman Zachary Justus finished fourth, followed by sophomore Esteban Martinez.

Freshman Andres Jaramillo placed fifth in the 3-meter, followed by Justus with a seventh.
