Mt. SAC Men’s Swimming Head Coach, Marc Ruh, Named 2016 South Coast Conference Coach of the Year

(Walnut, CAMt. SAC Men's Swimming Coach, Marc Ruh was rewarded with his third consecutive Coach of the Year Honor for leading the Mounties to their third consecutive South Coast Conference (SCC) Championship (seventh in the college's history).  The team went a perfect 7-0 in SCC dual team competition and scored a dominating 818 points, 289 points over runner-up Long Beach City College, in the SCC Championship Finals. 

Sophomore Swimmer, Phillip Wright captured his second consecutive SCC Swimmer of the Year honor.  Wright captured three individual events (400 Individual Medley (4:11.45), 500 Freestyle (4:37.99), 1,650 Freestyle (16:05.20)) and was a member of Mt. SAC's winning 800 Freestyle Relay (7:09.72) along with Isaiah Robertson, Rennen Devito and Kyle Chang.  Chang captured the 200 Individual Medley and was the only other Mountie Men's Swimmer to capture an individual championship and earn all-conference honors.

On the women's side individual SCC titles and all-conference honors were captured by Madeline Budds in the 100 Breast Stroke (2:15.82) and Kaitlyn Dickerson in the 200 Butterfly (2:15.82) for the SCC Champion Mt. SAC Women's Swimming/Diving Team.

The Mounties Swim and Dive program will next compete at the California Community College State Championships, which will be held at East Los Angeles College (Monterey Park, CA) from May 5th through 7th
