(Monterey Park, CA) Following a 1-1 tie against each other on Oct. 27 and heading into the final game of the regular season, Mt. San Antonio College trailed Rio Hondo College in the South Coast Conference North standings by a small margin. That changed on Tuesday, Oct. 31, when the Mounties (7-4-8, 5-1-3) defeated host East Los Angeles College, 3-0, and the Roadrunners (8-8-3, 5-3-1) lost to Cerritos College, 3-1, giving Mt. SAC the North title. This is the sixth consecutive season the Mounties have claimed the SCC North title.

Against the Huskies (6-12-2, 0-8-1) on Tuesday, Frank Gonzalez put Mt. SAC on the board with an unassisted goal at the 16:24 mark. Victor Fregoso followed up with an unassisted score at 49:18, then Abel Salazar completed the game's scoring at the 64:29 mark on an assist from Jacob Cervantes.

Daniel Ramirez played all 90 minutes in goal for the Mounties, making three saves.

By virtue of its first-place division finish, Mt. SAC is seeded No. 2 behind El Camino College (17-1, 9-0) and has earned a first-round bye in the upcoming SCC Tournament, which starts on Friday, Nov. 3.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Mounties will host the higher-seeded winner of the first-round games between No. 5 Long Beach City College (10-5-3, 4-3-2) and No. 4 Rio Hondo and No. 6 Los Angeles City College (6-11-2, 4-4-1) and No. 3 Cerritos (11-5-3, 5-2-2).
