Mt. SAC Men’s Golf opens OEC Inland Division play with a first-place win; Jacob Riegg is low medalist

(Victorville, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Golf team opened the Orange Empire Conference Inland Division with a perfect start to the season, securing a first-place finish in Match No. 1 on Monday, March 4, at Bear Valley Country Club.

The Mounties, who finished match play last season in third place in the division, are off to a strong start this season, going 4-0 with a low team score of 388. They were followed by College of the Desert (406) in 2nd place, Riverside City College (412) in 3rd place, Mt. San Jacinto (447) in 4th place, and host Victor Valley (522) in 5th place.

Leading the way among the 30 golfers was Mt. SAC's low medalist, Jacob Riegg, who finished with an impressive score of 74. The freshman was closely followed by two of his teammates in the top four positions. Sophomore Kobe Trujillo carded a 76 for a second-place finish, while freshman Aaron Fekin secured fourth place with a score of 79.

The next two Mounties, Trevor Ruiz (79) and Luke Sailhamer (80) finished in eighth and tenth place, respectively, contributing to the team's five scoring points. Keefe Pantayatiwong carded an 84, earning him 13th place in the competition.

Mt. SAC's next match will be held at Soboba Springs Country Club on Wednesday, March 13, with Mt. San Jacinto College hosting the event.
