Copeland Fires a 71 to Tie for Low Medalist at Cuyamaca Classic: Mt. SAC Golf Places Fourth

(El Cajon, CA) Mt. SAC's Blake Copeland carded a tournament-low 71 (1-Under Par) to tie for low medalist at the Cuyamaca Classic at the Sycuan Resort at the Willow Glen Golf Course Wednesday (Feb. 19).

Copeland, a sophomore, finished tied with three other golfers and won in a card-off as he was 1-under on the back nine.

As a team, the Mounties (377) finished in a tie for fourth with Irvine Valley College in the 10-team tourney. Cypress won with a score of 369.

"Our team is working to improve," Mt. SAC Men's Golf coach Greg Osbourne said. "They are together as a team and are looking forward to starting completion in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Inland Division in March.

The Mounties will play Match No. 1 at the Spring Valley GC in Victory Victorville, hosted by Victor Valley College March 4.

All six of the Mountie golfers shot in the 70's, as the next lowest was Tommy Chung (75), followed by Kotaro Nota (76), James Johnson (77), Chu-Wen (Felix) Tsui (78) and Ben Sanders (79).

Mt. SAC will next play in the Riverside City College Invitational at the Victoria GC.
