Mountie Men's Basketball opens SCC North play with win over L.A. City

(Los Angeles, CA) Following its second loss of the season on Jan. 19, Mt. San Antonio College bounced back with an 82-78 South Coast Conference North Division victory over host Los Angeles City College (4-15, 0-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Jerimiyah Smith led the Mounties (17-2, 1-0) in scoring with 18 points, while teammates Nick Hopkins and CJ Fisher added 17 and 15 points, respectively. Hopkins also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Mt. SAC never trailed in the game and outplayed the Cubs in several team categories, including points in the paint (38-26), points off turnovers (33-22), and second-chance points (12-9).

The Mounties continue SCC North play at East Los Angeles College (13-6, 0-1) on Friday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m. The Huskies are coming off an 86-74 SCC North loss to Pasadena City College (12-7, 1-0) that snapped their 10-game win streak.
