Mt. SAC Men's Basketball wins opening game of PCC Classic, 84-61 over L.A. Pierce

Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team, off to its best start since 2014, secured their fourth consecutive victory to open the 2023-24 season with an 84-61 win over L.A. Pierce in the opening game of the 6th Annual PCC Skip Robinson Classic on Thursday, November 16, at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The Mounties, who are the two-time defending Skip Robinson Classic Champions, were once again led by sophomore guard Nick Hopkins.

Hopkins (6-12 FGM-A, 8-10 FTM-A, 7 RB, 2 A, 2 Stls.), scoring a game-high 20 points, was supported by Ernest Love with 14 points (3-9 FGM-A, 7-8 FTM-A), Jon McCullough with 13 points (3-3 FGM-A, 2-2 3PM-A, 5-6 FTM-A), and Elijah Cirilo with 10 points (3-5 FGM-A, 3-4 3PM-A).

Jerimiyah Smith (2-4 FGM-A, 1-2 3PM-A, 4 RB) and Mikah Gardner (2-7 FGM-A, 2-6 3PM-A, 5 RB) contributed seven and six points, respectively, for the Mounties. Sophomore guard C. J. Fisher led the team with eight rebounds.

Mt. SAC will match up in game two of the Classic against Antelope Valley on Friday, November 17, at 1:00 P.M.
