(Glendora, CA) Mt. San Antonio College opened its 2023-24 campaign with a 65-60 non-conference victory at Citrus College (0-1) on Thursday, Nov. 2.

Trailing 17-11 with 11:53 to play in the first half, the Mounties battled back to take the lead, 22-20, on a three-pointer by Mikah Gardner at the 9:19 mark and took a 41-31 advantage into halftime.

The Owls opened the second half on a 14-0 run to take a 45-41 lead with 16:24 to play, then a back-and-forth battle ensued until Mt. SAC took the lead for good, 53-52, at 10:28 on a layup by Michael Ejumeta.

Elijah Cirilo led the Mounties with 13 points, while teammate Marvel Chambers added 12 off the bench. CJ Fisher led all players with 12 rebounds for Mt. SAC.

Next up, the Mounties will face Glendale College (0-1) in the opening round of the Mt. SAC Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 9. Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
