Mt. SAC repeats as PCC Tourney Champion; Defeats Glendale, 76-73

(Pasadena, CA) For the second year in a row, the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team won the Pasadena City College Skip Robinson Classic with a 76-73 win over Glendale College on Saturday afternoon (November 19) at PCC.

The Mounties (4-2), who lost to Glendale in their own Mt. SAC Tournament Championship game last week, also defeated Barstow, 91-72, in a semifinal game.

Mt. SAC continues non-conference action with a game on Wednesday (November 23) at home against Santiago Canyon.

Freshman guard Mikah Gardner led the Mounties with a season-high 24 points (9-15 FGM-A, 6-11 3PM-A, 8 RB, 2 Stls., 2 Blks).

Three other Mounties scored in double figures – Nick Hopkins (5-5 FGM-A, 4-4 FTM-A, 9 RB, 1 Stl.), 14 points, Jay Milner (3-9 3PM-A, 4-4 FTM-A, 3 RB), 13 points and LJ McClain (2-6 FGM-A, 6-8 FTM-A, 5 RB), 10 points.

Mt. SAC took a 52-40 halftime lead, led by 19 points from Gardner, which included five of his six 3-pointers.

Mt. SAC was led by Milner (6-12 FGM-A, 2-4 3PM-A, 7-10 FTM-A, 4 RB, 2 Stls.) with a game-high 21 points.

Gardner (6-10 FGM-A, 4-6 3PM-A, 3-5 FTM-A, 2 Blks.) added 19 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds, while Hopkins (4-6 FGM-A, 4 RB, 1 Stl., 1 Blk.) scored 12 points.

The Mounties had a nine-point lead at the half, but Glendale took a 73-68 lead with 4:13 left in the game. The Mounties outscored Glendale, 8-0 for the win.
