Mounties Football remains undefeated with NCC win over San Bernardino

(Walnut, CA) Ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the top state polls, host Mt. San Antonio College remained unbeaten this season with a 39-14 National Central Conference victory over San Bernardino Valley College (1-4, 0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Mounties (5-0, 2-0) opened up a 39-0 lead through three quarters before the Wolverines got on the scoreboard.

Quarterback Alex Flores threw for 128 yards on 11-of-16 passing with one touchdown and one interception for Mt. SAC. De'shon Thompson was one of Flores' top targets, hauling in three catches for 73 yards. Ryan Boultwood (18 yards) and Tremont Brewer (16 yards, one TD) also had three receptions each on the night. Kicker Diego Esqueda also had a touchdown reception, a 12-yard pass from kicker Matthew Fidone late in the second quarter.

On the ground, Nicholas Floyd (seven carries, 88 yards, one TD), Devon Miles (seven carries, 80 yards) and Samuel Green (10 carries, 72 yards) led the Mounties' rushing attack, which tallied 297 yards collectively.

Defensively, Juan Salas led Mt. SAC with six tackles (four solo) and an interception. Xavier Pulea (three solo) and Juruan Hardin (four solo) each had five tackles. The Mounties racked up five sacks on the night, which included sacks from Pulea (0.5), Felix Bobb (0.5), Hardin (one), Alo Pulu-Suliafu (one), Dylan Pullen (one) and Mathyus Solaita (one).

With 463 yards of total offense (297 rushing, 166 passing), the Mounties more than doubled the Wolverines' offensive output of 211 yards (28 rushing, 183 passing).

Mt. SAC returns to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 7, in an NCC matchup against Cerritos College (3-2, 1-1) at 6 p.m.
