Baseball: El Camino defeats Mounties in 10 to tighten SCC title race

(Walnut, CA) In a game that went back and forth, El Camino College (29-10, 17-6) defeated host Mt. San Antonio College (31-8, 18-5) by the score of 11-10 in 10 innings in a South Coast Conference game on Thursday, April 28. With one game to go in the regular season, the Mounties are tied for first with Long Beach City College (27-12, 18-5) in the SCC standings and are one game ahead of El Camino.

Top hitters for Mt. SAC on Thursday included Brent Cota (5-6, 3 R) Art Ruiz (3-5, R, 4 RBI, HR), Elijah Pelayo (2-4, R), and Blake Borgogno (3-6, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2B, HR). CJ Ontiveros (2-6, R, 2B) and Cota each stole a base for the Mounties.

Cristian Enriquez got the loss for Mt. SAC, pitching 2.2 innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned), and striking out three. Starter Jeffery Isenhart lasted 0.2 innings, allowing four runs (all earned).

The Mounties will close out their regular-season schedule in Game 3 of a three-game series with El Camino on Friday, April 29, in Torrance at 2:30 p.m. The outcome of the game will help determine if Mt. SAC, El Camino, or Long Beach claim the conference title.
