Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball off to best start in program history with 10th consecutive win; Defeats Irvine Valley, 4-1

(Irvine, CA) In the eighth year, the Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball team is off to its best start in program history with a 10-0 record as it defeated host Irvine Valley College, 4-1, in nonconference action on Wednesday, February 28.

Coming off its best record (23-2) in 2023, the young 2024 Mounties team has dropped only 10 of 50 sets in nonconference matches.

"We are thrilled to have had such a strong start in the preseason," Mt. SAC coach Samantha Neely said. "The exciting part is that we are nowhere near our full potential as a team yet, so it is awesome to have experienced some success while still showing up to practice every day knowing there are lots of opportunities to grow and get one percent better.

"We start conference on Friday and are looking forward to continuing to compete against opponents that will challenge us."

Mt. SAC begins South Coast Conference action on Friday, March 1 at College of the Desert.

Both the 1's (Angelina Griego/Candace Ceballos) and 2's (Capri Salmon/Elizabeth Ortiz) won in straight sets.

The 3's (Andrea Brewer/Zyra Green) and 5's (Eva Becerra/Freda Lei) won in three sets, as they won their third set easily for the victory.

Irvine Valley won the 4's in three sets over the Mt. SAC team of Naara Ortega/Jillian DeLeon.
