(Santa Barbara, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (9-0) remained unbeaten on the season with non-conference wins over Mt. San Jacinto College, 3-2, and host Santa Barbara City College, 3-2, at East Beach in Santa Barbara on Friday, Feb. 23.

The Mounties will travel to Irvine Valley College (3-3) for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. before starting South Coast Conference play on Friday, March 1, at College of the Desert (2-8) at 10 a.m. The March 1 match against COD will be followed by a non-conference contest with MiraCosta College (3-3).

The teams battled to a 2-2 tie through four pairings before the No. 5 pair of Eva Becerra/Freda Lei lifted the Mounties to victory with a 21-17, 21-18 win.

The No. 2 pair of Candace Ceballos/Angelina Griego won a team point for Mt. SAC with a 21-17, 21-11 victory as the No. 3 pair of Andrea Brewer/Zyra Green did the same with a 21-16, 21-15 win.

Mt. SAC 3 Santa Barbara 2

As in the first match against MSJC, the No. 5 pair of Becerra/Lei broke a 2-2 tie with a 21-17, 21-15 win to lead the Mounties to victory, this time against SBCC.

The No. 2 pair of Capri Salmon/Elizabeth Ortiz accounted for one of Mt. SAC's other team points with a hard-fought 21-12, 18-21, 15-9 win, as the No. 3 pair of Brewer/Green picked up the other point for the Mounties with a 21-17, 21-17 win.
