Mt. SAC Athletic Family Mourns The Loss Of Football Long Snapper, George Steward

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Athletics Family mourns the loss of Student-Athlete, George Steward (18), a freshman long snapper on the Mountie Football Team.  Steward and his girlfriend, Sabrina Castillo (18), both 2015 graduates of Los Altos High School, were involved in a vehicular accident in Hacienda Heights last night (10/18/15).  The couple was killed instantly when they were struck by a vehicle, travelling at a very high rate of speed, which lost control coming off the Eastbound 60 Freeway, 7th Street off ramp.

"This is a tragic loss for everyone who knew George," said Mt. SAC Head Football Coach Bob Jastrab.  "George was an outstanding individual who had a bright future ahead of him.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his and Sabrina's family and friends.  We know that they are in a better place now, but they will truly be missed by the Mt. SAC Family."

A moment of silence in honor of Steward and Castillo, was held last Saturday, prior to the Mt. SAC home football game against Riverside City College, at 6:00 pm.

Memorial services for both George and Sabrina will be held at 9:00 am, on Saturday, October 31st at the Montebello Calvary Chapel.  Please click here to view, download or print service information (Adobe PDF File).
