Paul Russell

Paul Russell is the veteran of the Mounties staff with 31 seasons on his resume. Through the years, he has coached every phase of the offense and served as Offensive Coordinator during the Mounties 1997 Community College National Championship season.

Russell’s prior coaching ventures include Sierra Vista High School, University of Oregon and Los Altos High School. He has been a full-time employee at Mt. SAC since 1986 and is one of the most popular professors on campus.

Russell prepped at Pius X High School and attended Cal Poly Pomona where he was a four-year starter in the secondary and led the nation in punt returns.

Russell’s son Brian a Free Safety played 9 seasons in the NFL.  In 2003, while with the Minnesota Vikings, Brian led the NFL in interceptions.

Paul teaches math at Mt. SAC in the Learning Assistance Center. He resides in West Covina with his wife Heidi. They have three grown children, Brian, Hailey, Shane and three lovely grandchildren, Brock, Shae, Leila and Tessa. (07/26/12).
