Coach Bobby Purcell began his tenure in the 2005 season with the Mounties.  Purcell is a full-time Professor at Mt. SAC and was the Offensive Coordinator until 2022 when he became the Co-Defensive Coordinator for the Mounties.

He began his coaching career at Lutheran High in La Verne, where he spent two years as an assistant coach and two years as the head coach.

Purcell attended Century High School in Santa Ana, where he participated in Track and Field. After graduating he attended Rancho Santiago College (Santa Ana College), where he played on the football team as a center and long snapper. He finished his career at Azusa Pacific University.

Purcell graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English from Azusa Pacific University and a Master Degree in Physical Education.

Purcell resides in Diamond Bar with his lovely wife Laura, sons Summit and Robert lll, Avery and Luke.
