Bobby Purcell began his tenure with the Mounties in 2006, initially serving as the Offensive Coordinator until he transitioned to the role of Co-Defensive Coordinator in 2022. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Purcell is a full-time Professor of Kinesiology at Mt. SAC.   

He began his coaching career at Lutheran High School in La Verne, where he spent two years as an assistant coach followed by two years as the head coach.

A graduate of Century High School in Santa Ana, Purcell was actively involved in track & field participating in shot put, hammer throw and discus throw events. He continued his athletic career at Santa Ana college, as a center and long snapper on the football team before finishing at Azusa Pacific University. 

Purcell earned his bachelor's degree in English from Azusa Pacific University and a master's degree in physical education from North Central University. He lives in Diamond Bar with his wife Laura and their sons Summit, Robert, Avery and Luke.
