Coach Laron Brown-Cockrell joined the Mt. SAC Track & Field Staff in the fall of 2019 and currently works with the Mountie Horizontal Jumpers (long jump/triple jump).  

Prior to arriving at Mt. SAC, he served as an assistant coach at Fullerton College ('17-'19), Azusa Pacific University ('17-'18), Cal State Fullerton ('10-'11) and Servite High School ('10-present).

At Fullerton College he produced a state, state runner-up, two regional and three conference champions.  At Azusa Pacific University, he guided Cougar jumper Cyinna Booker to the NCAA DII Indoor National Championships and All-American honors.       

Along with his Mt. SAC duties, Brown-Cockrell continues to serve as an assistant coach with the extremely successful Servite High School Track & Field Program ('10-present), as well as contnuing to direct and coach his Premier Athletics Training Track Club members.

A product of the foster care system for 12 years, Brown-Cockrell gave back to the community that supported him, serving nine and a half years ('08-'17) as a Resource Coordinator/Case Manager for Emanicipated Foster Youth with the  Orangewood Foundation (foster and community youth services). 

A gifted athlete himself, Brown-Cockrell prepped at A.B. Miller High School (Fontana, CA).  Collegiately, he competed at Cal State Fullerton where he was three time NCAA D1 regional and one time national qualifier, as well as a Big West Conference High Jump Champion.   

Brown-Cockrell received his Bachelors Degree in Communications from California State University at Fullerton (2010), his Masters Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University (2019) and is currently finishing another masters degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia University.

In his spare time he enjoys working out, hiking, parks and recreation and reading.  Currently residing in Fullerton (CA), Brown-Cockrell is a proud father of son's Cameron (5) and newborn Caleb.
