(Torrance, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team opened the South Coast Conference Tournament with a convincing, 3-0 sweep of Long Beach City College Friday, November 12 at El Camino College.
The Mounties, along with Pasadena City College, received first-round byes and each won their matches and advanced to face each other in the championship.
The Mounties, who won 25-23, 25-21, 25-17, were led by freshman outside hitter JJ Quarrels with 13 kills and 15 digs, along with Allison Whiteman (2 SA, 3 D) and Riley DeGroot (SA) with nine kills each. DeGroot also led all players with 22 digs.
Freshman setter Ally Euston (1 SA, 8D) led with 30 assists and libero Riannel Arevalo had 17 digs.
