Mounties move up to second in the SCC, sweep ELAC, 3-0

(Walnut, CA) For the eighth time in nine matches at home, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team has come out with a victory, the latest being a 3-0 sweep of East Los Angeles College.

The 25-13, 25-8, 25-19 win in South Coast Conference action gives the Mounties a 5-2 SCC record and are 11-4 overall.

The CCCWVCA State No. 10 Mounties vaulted up to second place in the conference behind Pasadena City College (7-0).

The Mounties, who moved into a second-place tie with El Camino, were led by outside hitter Allison Whiteman with 11 kills (.500 K%). JJ Quarrels (.500 K%, 3 Digs) and Riley DeGroot, (.353 K%, 6 D, 5 Service Aces) had nine and eight kills, respectively.

Ally Euston (10 D) had 22 assists, along with Alyssa Aleman (1 SA) and Kylie Rhodes with eight each.

Libero Riannel Arevalo (2 SA) contributed 15 digs.

Mt. SAC travels to El Camino Wednesday (Oct. 13), which will break the second-place tie between the two teams.
