(Walnut CA) Mt. SAC's previous two games resulted in ties and, for much of Friday's contest against Fullerton (3-1-1), it looked like another draw might be imminent. Such was not the case, however, as the host Mounties (5-2-2) scored a trio of late goals to capture a 3-0 win.
In the 76th minute, Kaylee Gutierrez broke a scoreless tie on an assist from Audrie Mahassel and teammate Fatima Arnold added another goal for Mt. SAC in the 86th minute on an assist from Alyssa Williams. Arnold found the net again in the game's final minute on Mahassel's second assist of the night.
A stingy Mountie defense limited the Hornets to just one shot on goal, which goalie Leila Peregrina (90 minutes) saved.
Mt. SAC will take a little break to gear up for its South Coast Conference schedule, which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Los Angeles Harbor (3-4-2) at 5 p.m.
